Overall Policy

Our overall policy is one of collecting only the information necessary to communicate with our customers about the Stimulus Technology products they are interested in, and/or the information required to process the sale of one of our products. We do not collect any other information, nor share any of the information we collect with anyone. At no time will your personal information be sold, rented, or revealed in any way to a 3rd party. We will not use the information you provide to us for any purpose other than to communicate with you about our products in the most efficient way possible.


Anonymous Use of our Website

You are free to visit our website, and access any content without revealing any information about yourself. Any identifying information collected in our web traffic logs is standard anonymous, domain-based information that may include information such as your browser type, your IP address, the referring site/URL, the time and duration of your visit, and the pages accessed. No cookies are collected except session cookies which are required to operate the website.  This data is used for analytics purposes, and to create the best user experience. For example, your IP address may be used to determine your country of presence for general statistics of user’ interest in our products by country. Browser type utilization may be used to optimize how content is displayed. At no time will you be personally identifiable by us, and all web server log information is used for anonymous, aggregated traffic and site activity analysis.


Personal Information Collected During the Download of our Software

When you download one of our products, we ask for a limited amount of personal information that will allow us to identify you in order to communicate with you effectively about the use of the product. At present, we may collect the following information provided by you: your full name and email address. All of this information is optional. In addition, our download logs automatically collect environmental variables such as the date and time of your download, and your IP address. This data is used for analytics purposes, and to create the best user experience. For example, your IP address may be used to determine your time zone to send emails only at appropriate times. Your email address is used to contact you regarding updates, fixes, enhancements and other information related to your use of the product. We provide a mechanism for you to opt out of this communication, if you desire so, described in the Data Retention and Opting Out section of this privacy policy.


Personal Information Collected During Subscribing to our Contact List

When you subscribe to our contact list we ask for the standard and necessary information required to identify you in order to communicate with you effectively about the products you are interested in. Currently, we may collect the following information provided by you: your full name, email address, and occasions when you wish us to contact you. Only your email address is required to be included in out contact list and other information is optional. We will contact you according to the contact options that you have selected. We provide a mechanism for you to opt out of this communication, if you desire so, described in the Data Retention and Opting Out section of this privacy policy.


Personal Information Collected During Registration for Product Trial

When you register for a product trial we ask for the standard and necessary information required to identify you in order to communicate with you effectively about the products you are interested in and to send you software activation keys and trial related reference information. Currently, we may collect the following information provided by you: your full name, email address, company name, business type, company website address, your general type of job function / title, area of your interest, telephone number and occasions when you wish us to contact you. We will contact you according to the contact options that you have selected. We provide a mechanism for you to opt out of this communication, if you desire so, described in the Data Retention and Opting Out section of this privacy policy.


Personal Information Collected During Purchase of a Stimulus Technology Product

When you purchase a license, support plan, or service we ask for the standard and necessary information required to identify you in order to process your financial transactions, send you order confirmation / renewal notices, respond to customer requests, register your rights, if any, to technical support, and investigate and prevent against illegal activities and/or violations of our end user license agreement (EULA). Currently, we may collect the following information provided by you: your full name, email address, company name, business type, company website address and your general type of job function / title. Your rights regarding opting out are described in the Data Retention and Opting Out section of this privacy policy.


License-Related Information Collected During Product Operation

Stimulus Technology’s product uses license metering software that may transmit license-related data at the time of installation, activation, launch or update to Stimulus Technology’s operated licensing server, as provided in the EULA. This information is used for validating the authenticity of the license-related data in order to protect Stimulus Technology against unlicensed or illegal use of the Software, as well as to help the customer avoid any unintentional violation of the EULA. All license-related information is securely stored by Stimulus Technology confidential to any third party. Stimulus Technology does not receive any information about the substance of the customer use of the product and systems that are being tested. No data that can be used to identify an end user of the product is transmitted during its operation. Additionally, product versioning information is collected for the purpose of providing version update notification. You can opt out of version checking in the software settings as described in the user documentation.


The Security of Our Technology

Stimulus Technology makes every reasonable effort to ensure the security of all of the systems that comprise our website, database, and e-commerce mechanisms, as well as the workstations that access these systems for administration and analysis. We take all steps necessary to ensure that our own systems, as well as the systems of our service providers are physically and electronically secure. All company systems and affiliated systems are password-protected. Currently we do not collect or store customer credit card information. When you place an order, our payment processors (Authorize.Net, PayPal) handle your data according to their privacy policies. We do not utilize bulk mailing technology that reveals your email address to others.


Data Retention and Opting Out

We will retain your information for as long as your license is active, your information is needed to provide you services, or as required to fulfill our legal obligations. If you wish to request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, contact us at privacy@stimulustechnology.com. We will retain from using your information for any purpose other than as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may "opt-out" of receiving Stimulus Technology’s email updates, newsletters and other emails by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of automated emails sent through our automated email provider or by contacting customercare@stimulustechnology.com or by replying to individual emails from our support and customer service personnel with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line. We will still send you essential notices related to your or our responsibilities as provided by our products' EULA if you accepted it.


Definition of "Third Party"

For the sake of clarity, a "third party" is defined as anyone not a part of, nor directly affiliated with Stimulus Technology. Those directly affiliated include service providers (who, in providing services such the hosting and processing mechanisms of our websites have access to the information contained within their own systems) and resellers and affiliate sale partners (who collect customer and transaction information on our behalf). In no case will anyone directly affiliated with Stimulus Technology use the information revealed to them for any purpose other than to provide the information to Stimulus Technology for the use outlined in the preceding sections above.
